August Birthstone: Peridot

Called as the gem of the sun by Egyptians, this stone has a dazzling brilliance. Fire seems to appear from the vibrant green surface of the Peridot, this may be because this gem is formed as a result of volcanic activity. When the stone was discovered in the black sands of Hawaii, the natives explained their presence as tears shed by Pele, the volcano goddess. Peridot symbolizes dignity and success.

Peridot is one of the oldest known gemstones. It is a mineral named Olivine, which is found in a variety of greens, ranging from light yellowish green to a dark olive and brown. Symbolizing sun is thought to provide protection from nightmares. One of the earliest mining were done at Saint John’s Island near Egypt around 1500 BC. When set in gold was considered to ward off evil. It signifies strength, both individual and within a relationship, as well as the promise of new growth in years ahead.

Lavish and lovely. The diamonds arranged as a trillion just above a charming peridot reflect color and shimmer. The designer v-bale adds an interesting character to the pendant that appeals to one and all. For just $ 175.
