The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ sixth annual Governors Awards on Nov. 8, 2014 was a starry affair. The three hours off camera celebration of four stalwart film talents was attended by a constellation of Hollywood stars including Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Mark Wahlberg Benedict Cuberbatch, and Robert Downey Jr.
The first Oscar winners of the season were Actress Maureen O’Hara, filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, screenwriter Jean-Claude Carriere and actor cum activist Harry Belafonte. All of them accepted honorary Oscars at the private ceremony at Hollywood and Highland’s Ray Dolby Ballroom.
The prestigious event’s red carpet was dazzled by the finest of fashion. It gave a glimpse of upcoming award styles. A beautiful plethora of colors was witnessed. Celebrities like Emily Blunt and Reese Witherspoon embraced bright summer colors to the event while Marion Cotillard stepped in a bright coral red look.
Emily was drop dead gorgeous in a custom fuchsia Michael Kors gown that has a geranium-embellished bodice. The gown from Spring 2015 collection was figure-flattering. The new mom complemented her jaw-dropping look with an emerald-green Rauwolf clutch and Dana Rebecca rose-pink earrings.
Similarly, Reese Witherspoon had a deja vu effect in her simple yet stunning dark pink fitted frock dress by Ralph Lauren. Her Manolo Blahnik sandals and high neckline added litheness to the below the knee hemline classy bodycorn dress.
Jennifer Aniston was also amongst the attendees at the event. The 45-year-old star went for a sexy little black dress by Zuhair Murad. Aniston styled her lacy black number that has a beaded bodice and floral-embroidered skirt with a black clutch, sky high heels, a gold bangle and matching black earrings . Her stunning diamond engagement ring was certainly there to complete the charm.
Another celebrity in black was Keira Knightley. The actress chose a Nina Ricci Spring 2015 midnight blue halter-neck floral-appliqué dress with black underlay at the skirt. Completing and contrasting the look were her emerald earrings and green suede pumps.
Jessica Chastain, one of the strong contenders for Oscars was the Grecian beauty at the event. Her bridal inspired gown has layered gown had lace section over the plunging neckline. It was a mesmerizing look and we just can’t stop but admire it.
Michelle Monaghan who picked a J. Mendel Spring 2015 tri-color silk chiffon gown for the event flaunted a similar look. Her flowing pink, aqua and white nuber had a thigh-high slit reminding us of Angelina Jolie’s Oscar style. The color combination with the pleated effect and simple makeup floored us. Irene Neuwirth rings, cuff and small gold stud earrings perfectly complemented the dramatic look.
